What about the general condition of my home? (Hosts)
Your home should delight guests, not disappoint. Here's how to maintain it to a high standard:
1. Cleanliness
- Our housekeepers will do a hotel-style clean before each stay, but your home should be at a good baseline level of cleanliness.
 - Ensure kitchen items (tableware, glassware, utensils, etc.) are clean and that appliances and cupboards are tidy.
 - Regularly descale your kettle, coffee machine, taps, shower heads, and bathroom/kitchen fixtures.
 - We recommend semi-regular upholstery and carpet cleaning based on usage.

2. General Maintenance
- Keep items like smoke alarm batteries, light bulbs, and dishwasher rinse aid stocked.
 - Use WD40 for creaky doors and locks, and keep silicone and grouting maintained in kitchens and bathrooms.
 - Ensure drains and plug-holes are working properly, and clean filters in washing machines/dryers.
 - Regularly vacuum, clean walls (with a "magic eraser" for marks), and check for vacuum bag changes.

3. Walls, Floors, & Furniture
- Over time, walls, floors, and furniture will show wear. To maintain your home’s appearance:
- Plan to repaint walls every 3-5 years, more often in high-traffic areas.
 - Furniture, carpets, and rugs may need replacement every 5-15 years, depending on usage and quality.

4. Central Heating System
- Schedule an annual boiler service to prevent issues. A gas safety check is required for guest safety, but it doesn’t replace servicing.
 - Plan a power flush every 5-6 years and bleed radiators annually (usually a simple task).
